Ruth Curnow first joined Waddell & Reed as a Financial Advisor in 1988. At that time, she was employed with Dyersburg State Community College as an Accounting Instructor and also owned and operated a Tax and Consulting practice. Ruth left Waddell & Reed in May 1990 and then returned to Waddell & Reed in 1994. As a Financial Advisor, Ruth draws on her background in business and education to help people understand the importance of financial planning and the complex issues involved in determining and pursuing their financial goals. She takes complex issues and explains them in a down-to-earth and easy to understand way.
Ruth (Austin) was born and raised near Scotts Hill, Tennessee. She attended Scotts Hill and Sardis Schools. Following high school graduation, Ruth married Tommy Barber and became an “Army wife.” They were blessed with two sons, Tony and Keith. After seven years, Ruth found herself in the position of “single Mom.” She later got the opportunity to attend college and earned BS and MBA degrees from The University of Tennessee at Martin.
Ruth currently lives in Decaturville, Tennessee with her husband, Charlie. Their sons, Tony and Keith, both live in Knoxville. Their daughter, Vickie, and grandson, DJ, lives in Port Huron, Michigan. Faith, family, and friends are extremely important to Ruth.
Ruth believes clients can sense how she sincerely enjoys working with them. She truly enjoys helping them with all their financial planning needs. She currently works from the Waddell & Reed Office located at 70 Long Avenue in Parsons, TN.
